2005-03-22, SOHOPEFUL INTERNATIONAL, INC. - A local couple produces a benefit gala for 5 beneficiaries to support the battle against HIV and AIDS.CHICAGO, IL (PRWEB) March 22, 2005 -- On April 10, the inaugural “A Million Miles for a Million Lives” AIDS Benefit Gala will be held at the House of Blues Hotel. Featuring a silent auction with an interactive fashion show, a Children’s Art Gallery, live entertainment from Chicago’s very own Phat Hats, and one panel of the AIDS Memorial Quilt on display, the primary goal of the evening is to raise money to benefit five AIDS organizations - New Vision of Hope Foundation, Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN), Better Existence with HIV (BEHIV), San Francisco AIDS Foundation, and Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation. The organizers were determined to make certain that 100% of all proceeds would be distributed to these worthy organizations. This event was a dream for Michael and Monica Langowski. As the entire organizing team, this husband and wife duo has worked tirelessly to ensure no detail has been overlooked. Working from their home office and cell phone, Michael and Monica were successful in involving over 100 individuals and merchants, both locally and from across the nation, to donate goods and services to the silent auction, as well as finding local companies to sponsor an unknown event. The couple has handled all the marketing, donation solicitation, collection, and volunteer coordination, while starting their own business and mentoring teenagers at a neighborhood high school. While their pace has seemed to be frantic at times with them trying to tie up loose ends before the big event, the couple maintains that this benefit gala is not about them - it is to pay homage to friends lost and friends affected by this pandemic. Michael and Monica each want to make a difference, and give back to the community that embraced them 2 years ago when they moved from Los Angeles. “We can only hope to have a successful evening for everyone,” says Monica of their endeavor. “I just would love to see all the hard work pay off for some very worthy groups.” Victoria Wilson, founder of the New Vision of Hope Foundation, has been watching the event unfold. “These two are truly amazing, “ Victoria says. “ I have been amazed at what Michael and Monica have been able to do, who they have been able to get involved, and the passion they have for this cause. I look forward to getting more involved with next year’s event!” So, is the 2nd Annual Million Miles for a Million Lives AIDS Benefit Gala already in the plans? “After a much needed rest, and after we complete the Ride for AIDS Chicago in June, I think we will be ready to begin again!” says Michael. “Maybe we will even enlist a few more people to help next year!” For more information about the event, please call 773-721-2136 or email .
