Release by STATION FAMILY FUND 2003-12-18, STATION FAMILY FUND - The Station Family Fund today announces that it is in danger of running out of funds. (PRWEB) December 18 2003-- The Station Family Fund was formed by survivors and family members of victims and survivors to address the need for immediate financial assistance and relief to those directly affected by the Station Nightclub Fire which took the lives of 100, severely injured close to 200, and leaving at least 60 children who lost one or both parents in this tragedy.
The Station Family Fund is a 501(c) (3) recognized charitable organization. All donations are tax-deductible. The fund has successfully raised $139,000 of which $129,793.51 has already been disbursed.
The Station Family Fund is a 100% Volunteer Effort. There are no administrative costs. Every dollar raised by the Station Family Fund will go directly to address the needs of the survivors and the families of victims. Administrative and overhead expenses will be paid solely from donations solicited for this specific purpose.
"People have the assumption that everybody is being financially taken care of and it`s completely inaccurate. It`s going out much quicker than it`s coming in,`` said Victoria Potvin, a 28-year-old fire survivor and fund founder.
The founders of the Station Family Fund estimate that it will take $3 million dollars to meet the immediate needs of those affected in the coming years.
